Sustainability
Renewable Energy Through Rooftop Solar Power
Vignana Jyothi has embraced clean energy by installing rooftop solar power systems across campus facilities. These installations contribute significantly to reducing dependence on conventional energy sources, lowering carbon emissions, and promoting renewable energy adoption. The solar infrastructure also serves as a practical learning platform for students.
Sewage Treatment & Water Recycling
The campus operates modern Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) that process wastewater from academic blocks, hostels, and other facilities. Treated water is reused for landscaping, gardening, and non-potable applications, reducing freshwater consumption and supporting a circular water management system.
Rainwater Harvesting & Groundwater Recharge
Comprehensive rainwater harvesting systems integrated throughout the campus capture and utilize rainwater effectively, replenishing groundwater reserves, reducing stormwater runoff, and strengthening long-term water sustainability.
Biogas Plant: Converting Waste into Energy
A biogas plant at the VNRVJIET hostels processes approximately one tonne of food waste daily, converting organic waste into biogas used for cooking in hostel kitchens. The nutrient-rich slurry is used as organic manure — a successful circular economy model where waste becomes a valuable resource.
Plastic & E-Waste Management
Systematic segregation and collection of plastic and electronic waste. E-waste is channelled through authorized recyclers, while awareness programs encourage students and staff to minimize single-use plastics and adopt environmentally conscious practices.
Construction & Demolition Waste Management
C&D waste from campus development projects is managed through segregation, reuse, and environmentally compliant disposal. Recyclable and reusable materials are recovered wherever possible, minimizing waste sent to landfills and supporting sustainable infrastructure development.

Educational Equity & Student Support
Vignana Jyothi facilitates scholarships from philanthropic organizations, corporate foundations, alumni and private institutions. Awards are based on academic merit and economic need — enabling talented students from underprivileged backgrounds to pursue higher education without financial barriers.
Skill Development with Tata STRIVE
In partnership with Tata STRIVE, free technical and non-technical training programs are offered to unemployed youth and aspiring professionals — focused on skill development, career readiness, and pathways to sustainable employment.
Digital Inclusion Through Device Support
Distribution of laptops and desktop computers through donations, sponsorships and affordable EMI schemes. Students from disadvantaged backgrounds receive devices either free of cost or at low cost — bridging the digital divide and ensuring uninterrupted access to online learning.
Rural Development through DRNVJIRD
The Dr. D. Rama Naidu Vignana Jyothi Institute of Rural Development serves as a catalyst for sustainable rural transformation, training thousands of rural youth across multiple villages with employable skills and creating long-term socio-economic impact.
Each One Teach One (EOTO)
Students and volunteers provide computer literacy and digital skills training to government school students — empowering young learners with essential digital competencies and fostering community engagement.
Social Outreach & Volunteering
Joy of Giving (DaanUtsav), community development programs, educational outreach, NGO support, volunteering, and awareness campaigns on social and environmental issues — sustained year-round with student, faculty, alumni and staff participation.
Health & Social Welfare Initiatives
Regular blood donation drives, health awareness programs, and social welfare campaigns that mobilize the entire VJ community in service of public health and civic responsibility.
